Perfect Party Outfits

Another Christmas gone... What to wear for New Year's Eve?!?!?!?! I'm sure we are all looking for the perfect party dress, a dress we can pull out all the stops for.
I have chosen Heartloom's gold sequin dress with some ruching on the sleeves and skirt. This dress also exists in a charcoal sort of colour which is great if is gold isn't the perfect colour for you. If you are going to go all out with your dress, tone down your hair and make-up a little so you don't look too done up. Don't be shy to bring out your best peep-toe heels, or crazy pumps to complete your outfit.
Since I'm a less is more kind of girl, I would probably wear black pumps, wear some eyeliner, mascara, and OFF we go!
Another option would be to wear leather leggings and a silk blouse with sparkly flats for a more edgy look. Love Miranda Kerr in this outfit, very slick!
What are your New Year's looks this year? Would love to have your ideas!!
Happy Holidays everyone!!

Banjo & Matilda cashmere lounging pant

It may be called a lounging pant which suggests a "lazy-not about to get out of my house-Sunday-wear".HOWEVER in the Alix Lebreton world these "lounging pants" can be the perfect addition to a -40 degree celsius. Honestly what's better than cashmere? What is more chic than cashmere? What would you rather wear than cashmere? My ultimate go-to fabric that keeps in the heat whether it is thick or thin.
Now don't get me wrong there are many different scales in the quality of cashmere. The best I have ever come across is Brunello Cucinelli sweater my mother gave me (looks great as an over-sized sweater with skinny jeans). There is absolutely NO sign of pilling! HA!
A note about cashmere, it CAN be machine washed COLD with such detergents as woolite (if you have a hand wash cycle use that), then lay it flat to dry. The type of fibre should not washed too often in order to preserve its life.
Anyway...once Christmas is passed and I will be able to use my Canon, pictures will be taken of the different outfits with these "lounging pants". Seriously is there another chic-er expression than "lounging pants"?

Canon Powershot 12.1 MP ELPH300

This cute little thing is my Christmas present (only to be unwrapped on Christmas Day of course). I have been wanting my own digital camera for such a long time (you may wonder how I have been able to live for a quarter of a century without one). This cute little Canon has 12.1 mega pixels, full HD 1080 quality video and stereo sound quality. I wanted something to photograph my outfits, my beauty products, street style, and shoot my YouTube videos. IT HAS ARRIVED! IT is now my very own!
OK! How about we calm down a little... "Pre-holiday excitement for the presents we know we will receive"
Anyway this little gem will actually travel around the city with me every day; who knows what wonders we come across randomly n'est-ce-pas?
I also wanted to point out that I will resume posting videos on my YouTube channel after Christmas. At least my videos will be top notch quality because my Macbook integrated webcam was not doing the trick (well not as much as I wanted it to). Here's my YouTube channel where you will find makeup tutorials, OOTDs, beauty product reviews, hauls, and what not.
www.youtube.com/AlixStylist
See you soon we a whole bunch of videos and crazy pictures!
PS what kind of camera do you us? Any opinions on the this little Canon?
PPS: Happy Holidays everyone!

TOMS Highland Brown Botas

How much do we love TOMS? SO much that we want every colour to go with every outfit we own. N'est-ce pas?
The little brown booties are perfect for this dreary Montreal weather. It's cold and  there no snow on the ground (yet!). I love the fleece lining and the foldable collar! Let's not forget the sole with a little cushion for comfy feet throughout the day. They also come in light grey, black, and white; maybe I should get the grey ones since I am sort of grey-obsessed! Grey beats black (at least for me *wink*).
These Highland Botas also exist for men (great Christmas gift by the way).
They retail CAD$99 at Holt Renfrew.
Toasty feet...mmm so great!

Canada Goose Canadian Limited Edition

So excited! Today I got a new Canada Goose parka. Not just any parka; this one was designed by Chantal Kreviazuk and sold exclusively in Holt Renfrew stores across Canada. My favourite part of this parka is the hood: it looks like the hood on cloaks women from the 18th century (and before) would wear.  Very old world meets new urban design with revolutionary fabrics. I look like Red Riding Hood but in black. How about that! I cannot wait to wear this parka in Paris next fall and know that NO one will have the same one :P Yes... I feel so special right now!

Armani Face Fabric Second Skin and Master Corrector

No foundation day today. Scary but YES I did it! I decided I wanted to try and find a product to hide my little acne scars which are really the only reason I wear foundation.
The hunt was ON ladies... Off to Holt Renfrew I go...
What can I use? says I.
Armani. says the makeup artist.
AAAAHHHHH! Everyone (makeup artists) has told me the best product for me to use was Armani Face Fabric and Master Corrector!!!!!!! The first time I was told to try Armani products I sort of sighed and told myself I should wait. The Face Fabric foundation is CAD $55 which is quite pricey. HOWEVER (I am looking at my face in the mirror right now) this foundation has NOT MOVED or FADED AT ALL! I am just amazed. Not only that it looks completely ABSOLUTELY natural. Ladies when was the last time you found a foundation that perfectly blended with your skin colour and tone?????? Trust me I have had the hardest time. Clinique Acne solutions is great because I tend to breakout; especially in the summer my skin is a little bit more oily. Nevertheless Armani Face Fabric is without a doubt the best EVER!
Ok enough raving. Here is what this foundation does:
- it has the texture of a mousse, or froth, or think of chocolate mousse haha; light and airy and feels like silk on your skin
-it is ideal for oily skin types because it has a bunch silicones in it that eats up that extra oil
-the finish is matte but soft enough to let your natural glow shine through
-it allows infinite blending and layering without the feeling of wearing too much makeup
-lastly it provides sheer coverage which is ideal for me
The Armani Master Corrector (retails for CAD$37):
-perfectly conceals imperfections (those acne scars... GONE)
-it contains light-reflecting pearls to create a natural glow and lighten up those dark circles
-it is a cream but is light enough that it feels like silk, just like the foundation
Honestly ladies... I am relieved to have found and tried these products. I may just have to make Armani my winter cosmetic brand. Hallelujah!

Chanel Paris Bombay

A few images from Style.com of Chanel's Pre-Fall Paris-Bombay fashion show. This show was the perfect mélange of fabrics, colours, Chanel versus the Sari. It was elegant, it was refined, it was perfectly ornamented, it was Chanel.
Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel was greatly inspired by Indian dress and jewelry. This was the impeccable representation.
